Darla Moore School of Business
2017-2019

Dr. Lenz teaches two highly sought-after courses offered at the Darla Moore School of Business:

  • FINA 490 Financial Innovation

  • Financial Scholars Program - Student Managed Investment Fund

FINA 490 started as a special topics class launched as part of the Moore School's Financial Scholars Program.  The class focuses on two main types of financial technologies, block chain and machine learning, and how valuable the application of these technologies are as they reach out to a broad scope of business sectors and career paths.  This course provides students with sought-after skills and knowledge that are highly marketable in today's competitive job industry.

Students entering the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) course must successfully complete a highly competitive application process that frequently involves a statement of interest, resume and/or cv, and interviews with faculty and alumni.  The course provides specialized course work in investment management, data source instruction including Bloomberg technology, and responsibilities directing the live investments housed in the SMIF.  This rigorous and challenging course is designed for students with interest, ambition and drive to pursue careers in top finance leadership positions.
